Currently, our systems do not recognize browser “do-not-track” requests. You may, however, disable certain tracking as discussed in this section (e.g., by disabling cookies), but such disabling may impair use of the Services.
VIII. Cookies
Cookies are small files placed on your computer’s hard drive through your web browser for record-keeping purposes. You may refuse to accept browser cookies by activating the appropriate setting on your browser. However, if you select this setting you may be unable to access certain parts of our Site or the Database. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, our system will issue cookies when you direct your browser to our Site. Some cookies allow us to make it easier for you to navigate our Site and the Database, while others are used to allow us to track your activities at our Site and the Database. The cookies we may use include:
- Session Cookies. Session cookies exist only during an online session. They disappear from your computer when you close your browser or turn off your computer. We use session cookies to allow our systems to uniquely identify you during a session.
- Persistent Cookies. Persistent cookies remain on your computer after you have closed your browser or turned off your computer. We use persistent cookies to track aggregate and statistical information about user activity.
IX. Web Beacons
Pages of the Site and the Database and our emails may contain small electronic files known as web beacons (also referred to as clear gifs, pixel tags, and single-pixel gifs) that permit TAAF, for example, to count users who have visited those pages or opened an email and for other related website statistics (for example, recording the popularity of certain website content and verifying system and server integrity).
X. Third Party Analytics
We use automated devices and applications, such as Google Analytics, to evaluate usage of the Services. We use these tools to help us improve our Services, performance and user experiences. Entities providing these devices and applications may use cookies and other tracking technologies to perform their services. We do not share your personal information with these third parties. To opt-out of Google Analytics and find out more about their privacy practices, see https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
XI. Third-Party Links
Our Site and the Database may contain links to third-party websites. Any access to and use of such linked websites is not governed by this Privacy Policy, but instead is governed by the privacy policies of those third party websites. We are not responsible for the information practices of such third party websites.
XII. Security of My Personal Information
We have implemented measures designed to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Please be aware that despite our efforts, no data security measures can guarantee 100% security. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk.
XIII. What Rights Do I Have Regarding My Personal Information?
You may request access, a copy, modification or deletion of personal information that you have submitted to us and/or information included in our Database by contacting us at database@taaf.org. We will use reasonable efforts to accommodate such requests to the extent required by law, provided that we may be required to retain personal information to comply with legal obligations, accounting requirements, or for other business purposes. We may request additional information to verify the identity of the requesting party before responding to a request. Please note that copies of information that you have updated, modified or deleted may remain viewable in cached and archived pages of the Site and the Database for a period of time.
XIV. What Choices Do I Have Regarding Use of My Personal Information for Marketing?
We may send periodic promotional or informational emails to you. You may opt-out of such communications by following the opt-out instructions contained in the email or emailing database@taaf.org. Please note that it may take up to 10 business days for us to process opt-out requests. If you opt-out of receiving emails about recommendations or other information we think may interest you, we may still send you e-mails about the Services which you have requested or received from us.

The Services are not intended for children under 16 years of age. No one under age 16 may provide any information to or on the Site or the Database. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are under 16, do not use or provide any information on this Site or the Database or through any of their features. We will post any changes to this Privacy Policy on the Site.
